CHALLENGES

Here at Girls on Hills, we love nothing more than a running challenge! In fact our co-founder, Keri Wallace, has written a guidebook called Running Challenges, 100 of the best runs in England, Scotland and Wales. It is in bookshops now and available to order online through Vertebrate Publishing.

If any of the routes in the guidebook pique your interest or if you have an alternative goal in mind, why not contact us about supplying a guide to help you on your way....

Below are a few of the running/mountain challenges that are popular in our local area of Glencoe/Lochaber. Depending on your aspirations and ability, you can complete these challenges in a day or over multiple days – or even just sample a short section of these fabulous high-level journeys. Bespoke bookings such as these are open to individuals and small groups, and can be tailored around the people in your team - their experience, ability and aspirations.

BEN NEVIS – YOUR WAY

Want to climb Ben Nevis? Let’s do it your way!

Whether you want to run, walk or scramble, there are plenty of ways to reach the highest summit in the UK. Simply tell us what you want out of your day and we’ll make it a reality.

You can climb Ben Nevis via the Tourist/Pony Path, via the North Face/Charles Ingles Clark (CIC) Memorial Hut or by scrambling across the Carn Mor Dearg Arete on your way round the Ben Nevis Horseshoe. Alternatively try your hand at Ledge Route or Castle Ridge for exposed, graded scrambling near the North Face of Ben Nevis.

RAMSAY ROUND

Girls on Hills is working with the support of Charlie Ramsay himself to raise the profile of this classic Scottish mountain round for runners and walkers of all abilities. We aim to support first-timers and encourage more women to consider attempting the Ramsay Round in future. This route showcases every type of terrain and highland scenery that the West Highlands has to offer.

Simply get in touch and find out what itinerary would work for you, then let us show you the way on this incredible multi-day journey

*Please note that Girls on Hills does not offer or endorse the provision of commercially guided support/pacing for 24h Ramsay Round attempts

MOUNTAINS BY RAIL

Make the most of Scotland's rail links and meet your Girls on Hills Guide at a rail station for a mountain running challenge straight off the track!

From Crianlarich, we can show you the gnarly Crianlarich 5 Round, from Tyndrum the impressive Ben Lui 4 or from the Falls of Cruachan/Loch Awe we can run the rocky Ben Cruachan Round.

For something altogether different, meet your guide at Corrour Station and run the low-level trails back to civilisation or bag the Munros surrounding the scenic and remotely located Loch Ossian.

So many options! All you need is your trail running vest and a rail ticket - we'll see you there!
